Time to Retire That Old Email Address?

We occasionally come across people still using email addresses they created 15–20 years ago — sometimes from old internet providers, old jobs, or addresses that perhaps sounded like a good idea at the time.
The good news is that moving to a better email address is usually much easier than people expect.
In many cases:
Auto-forwarding can be enabled, so emails sent to the old address automatically arrive in the new one
Existing emails, folders, contacts and calendars can usually be migrated across as well
Apps such as Outlook or Apple Mail can usually be reconnected without too much disruption
One of the biggest mistakes we see is people using their work email address for personal life — banking, shopping, family accounts, utilities, holidays, everything.
That works… until circumstances change.
If you leave the company, retire, or lose access to the account or domain name, suddenly important emails may still be going somewhere you can no longer access. It can create a surprisingly stressful situation — and it’s usually avoidable with a little forward planning.
We’d strongly recommend keeping:
Personal email for personal life
Work email for work
Modern email systems are also generally:
More secure
Easier to use across multiple devices
Better at filtering spam and junk email
Simpler to connect to apps without needing complicated mail server settings
Security matters too. Email accounts often contain sensitive information, password resets, invoices, personal documents, and attachments — so features such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) are well worth enabling.
If your email setup has become a bit chaotic, we can help review what you’re currently using and make recommendations that are secure, organised, and easier to manage long-term.
